Sony RX100 has a fixed (unchangeable) spefically designed lens and its larger aperture is F11. Since this is a custom design lens, its performance & sharpness are also quite different than regular SLR lenses.

In this comparison you can see how F4.5 competes against F8. F8 is a sweet spot for most SLR camera lenses and there is usually a dramatic performance difference between F4.5 and F8 in general SLR lenses. However as you can see in this comparison, F4.5 and F8's performance nearly identical in RX100 make 2. If you look very very hard, you can say F8 is very very slightly worse than F4.5 but most people wouldn't even notice. If you want to see that very slight difference, zoom to the part where palm tree is in the picture (bottom middle/right section of the photo).

RX100 2's depth of field is also quite different than regular SLR cameras since its sensor size and focal length (distance between sensor and lens's optical center) is different. Like in many compact cameras, RX100 2 has a wider depth of field in comparison to SLR cameras. You can see in that comparison that in both F4.5 and F8 depth of field is nearly infinitive in RX100 2. There is again very slight difference between 2 apertures regarding depth of field. If you zoom through right or left of the photos you can see that F4.5 is very slightly blurry due to narrower depth of field but its definetely still very wide DOF in comparison to SLR cameras in F4.5.
